They say the weekend goes by in a blink and somehow, Monday always manages to slap us back into reality. But let’s be honest, we spend the entire week chasing it like it’s the answer to all our problems. Why?
Because the weekend is freedom.
Freedom to sleep in, to binge-watch guilt-free, to reconnect with ourselves, with others, or with that pile of laundry we’ve been ignoring. It’s weddings, brunches, night outs, or simply staying in and doing absolutely nothing. It’s the break our overworked, overstimulated minds crave.
We anticipate it because it offers -contrast from structured schedules to spontaneous plans, from deadlines to detours. It’s when you feel most (you), outside of the roles you play from Monday to Friday.
But then Monday rolls in… and so do the group chats filled with memories, the unwashed dishes, and the existential questions like, “How is it already 7AM?”
Still, there’s something grounding about returning to routine even if reluctantly. It reminds us that the highs of the weekend are only sweet because of the grind we power through during the week.
So here’s to another round.
Another shot at the week.
And another countdown to Friday.
Let’s get it.
