Athletic Bilbao manager, Ernesto Valverde has reportedly named Arsenal as one of the favourites to win the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League ahead of his side’s clash against the Gunners later today.With a trip to Spain first on the schedule, Arsenal are hoping to advance a step or two from their Champions League campaign.

According to the London World, Valverde is well aware of the potential issues his club may encounter.“Last year we played in Europe and we have some experience in these types of matches, but the Champions League is played at a different pace.“It’s a different level. The opponents don’t hold anything back. Arsenal is completely focused on this match and we have to be at that level to be able to compete,” Valverde urged in the pre-match press conference prior to the clash at the San Mamés.The Spanish manager also wants to “show that we can compete in Europe with Athletic’s philosophy.”The Athletic boss also declared Arsenal as, “one of the favourites to win”.
