From the green attractive lawns of the University of Nairobi to the rolling hills around Maseno, the silence of pin drop is defeaning as lecturers halls remains empty. The lecture halls once full of curious minds now empty with growing uncertainty. The university education keeps crumbling following indefinite strike called a week ago due to dishonour of the employee-employer agreement claims. The University Academic Staff Union (U.A.S.U) Secretary General, Dr. Constantine Wesonga declared commencement of strike after a 7-day notice wasn’t considered. Students from the public universities across the country in limbo as the lecturers strike hits the second week have urged talks or resolution whatsoever.
The strike have halted learning, examinations, projects done by final year students, thesis supervision, attachment activities are not progressing any further. The have urged for a lasting solution.
